Privacy Policy

In summary: DashDegu keeps your dashboards on your device. It has no account, advertising or analytics. The only data that leaves the device is the location of the city you pick for the weather, and purchases, which Google Play handles.

Data Stored on Your Device

Your dashboards, their widgets and themes, the dashboard schedule and the app’s settings are stored locally on the device. If you have bought PRO, the app also remembers that on the device, so PRO keeps working offline.

Local data is not accessible to the developer. It can be removed by uninstalling the app or by clearing its data in the Android settings. Android may include it in device or account backups, and copy it to a new device, according to your backup settings.

Weather

The weather widget is the only feature that sends data from the app. To show the weather for the location you set for a dashboard, the app sends that city’s coordinates and time zone to the developer’s weather server at api.johnnysee.net. The server gets the forecast from Apple Weather and sends it back.

• No account, name, device identifier or advertising identifier is sent.
• Apple receives only the coordinates from the developer’s server, not your device’s IP address.
• As with any connection on the internet, the server sees the IP address the request comes from. It is used only to deliver the response and to protect the service against abuse, and is not used to identify or profile users.

The app never asks for your device’s location. The weather is only fetched for a city you choose yourself as the dashboard’s location, and only while a dashboard with a weather widget is in use.

The server keeps the forecast for an area of roughly 10 km around the city for up to an hour, so nearby requests can be answered without asking Apple again. That copy is not linked to you or your device. The server’s request logs, which include the coordinates and the IP address of each request, are kept for up to 7 days to run and secure the service, and are then deleted automatically.

Calendar

The calendar widgets show events from the calendars on your device. They need the Android calendar permission, which the app asks for from the calendar widget. Calendar events are read on the device to draw the widget. They are never stored by the app, sent anywhere or shared.

Purchases

PRO is a one-time purchase processed by Google Play. Payment details go to Google, not to the developer. The app only asks Google Play whether PRO has been bought, and confirms the purchase with Google Play. Google’s handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

Service Providers

The weather server runs on Cloudflare, which hosts it and keeps its request logs. Apple provides the weather data and receives only the coordinates from the server. Both process this data only to provide the service, under their data processing terms. Cloudflare may process data outside the European Union, under the safeguards set out in its data processing terms.

Third-Party Services

DashDegu does not contain advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, Firebase, or third-party tracking services.

Your Rights Under the GDPR

The weather server processes the coordinates and IP address on the basis of legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): delivering the weather you asked for and protecting the service against abuse. DashDegu does not rely on consent, because it does not use your data for anything beyond that.

You have the right to request access to your personal data, its correction or erasure, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Because DashDegu has no accounts and keeps server data only briefly, the developer usually cannot link any stored data to you. If you have a request, write to the contact address and it will be handled as far as the data can be identified.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In the Czech Republic, this is the Office for Personal Data Protection (uoou.gov.cz).

Children

DashDegu is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children or from any other users.

Changes to This Policy

If the app’s data practices change, this policy will be updated before the relevant functionality is introduced, and the effective date at the top of this page will be revised.
